FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON (Friday, January 20, 2012) — Washington Youth Soccer is proud to announce that three Elite Player Development teams, Girls 1998, Boys 1998 and Boys 1997 were crowned champions Tuesday afternoon at the 2012 US Youth Soccer Region IV Olympic Development Program Championships in Phoenix, Ariz. The title was the first for each team and brings the total to six championships by Washington teams in the last three years at the prestigious event, featuring the top youth players from throughout the Western U.S.

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON (Thursday, January 19 2012) — Washington Youth Soccer today announced a Nation-wide search for a new  Technical Director as current Technical Director  Gary White will take the position of  National Team Head Coach and Technical Director for the Guam National Team program.  The search will begin immediately and will remain ongoing until the position is filled.  White will serve as Technical Advisor during this time to ensure a smooth transition.

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON (Thursday, January 19 2012) — Washington Youth Soccer today announced Technical Director Gary White will accept the position of  National Team Head Coach and Technical Director for the Guam National Team program. Washington Youth Soccer is honored to have a member of its management team take such a prestigious position.  White has guided the player and coach landscape in Washington for the past two years – he will leave behind a strong legacy of an organization that has grown to meet its potential and is well-equipped to follow the foundational development plans he created.  White will remain on as a Technical Advisor to the organization until a new Technical Director is in place. 
 

 Sports Authority to be official sporting goods retailer of state’s largest youth soccer association

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON (Friday, Dec. 9) — Washington Youth Soccer today announced that Sports Authority, one of the nation’s largest national sporting goods retailers, has signed a sponsorship agreement with the state’s largest youth soccer association. The agreement makes Sports Authority the official sporting goods retailer of Washington Youth Soccer, and creates many significant benefits for the state’s 143,000 players and coaches.

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON (Tue., Nov. 22) – Washington Youth Soccer today announced Technical Director Gary White will be traveling to Guam on November 26-December 3 to conduct a series of technical programs and work with the Guam National Team’s coaching staff.  White received an invitation to conduct this technical training by Richard Lai, an Executive Member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and President of Guam Football Association (GFA).

 Umbrella Program to Create Greater Opportunities and Best Avenues of Development for Elite Players

 Crossfire Premier’s U14 Boys win Farwest Regional title, advance to US Youth Soccer Nationals

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON (Wed., July 7) – Sixteen of Washington Youth Soccer’s 32 teams competing at June’s US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals and President’s Cup Regionals advanced to the elimination stages, while the U14 Boys’ Crossfire Premier squad captured a US Youth Soccer Region IV title, Washington Youth Soccer announced Wednesday.

The grant awarded to Washington Youth Soccer is part of over $500,000 in Soccer Across America State Association Membership Development grants US Youth Soccer will award to nationwide over the next three years.

Seattle Sounders FC and Washington Youth Soccer Join to Advance Youth Soccer Development Programs in Washington State

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON (Monday, July 20) –  On May 14, 2009 Governor Christine Gregoire signed House Bill 1824 – also known as the Zackery Lystedt Law – which will directly affect youth sports and head injury policies.  In preparation of the law becoming effective on July 26, 2009, Washington Youth Soccer has launched a concussion education section on its website.  Here you will be able to find resources that explain the law in detail, describe the signs and symptoms of concussion, and outline the steps clubs, associations, coaches, parents and athletes need to take to ensure they are in compliance with the law.

OLYMPIA – The Brain Injury Association of Washington (BIAWA) today applauded Gov. Christine Gregoire for signing the nation’s toughest return-to-play law, requiring medical clearance of youth athletes suspected of sustaining a concussion, before sending them back in the game, practice or training.

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON (Thursday, March 19) – On Wednesday, April 15, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and The Seattle Times will induct its 2009 class into the Hall of Fame. Included in this elite class of coaches, administrators, officials and professional athletes is Washington Youth Soccer alumni and local soccer phenom Chris Henderson.

Washington Youth Soccer has signed an agreement with the State of Washington Labor and Industries (L&I).  The agreement states Washington Youth Soccer will be responsible for reporting and paying the L&I premiums for all youth soccer games played under the Washington Youth Soccer banner effective January 1, 2009. 

Please note: Associations are NOT required to pay or report to Labor and Industry for referee activity for this calendar year.  Associations ARE required to report wages for other people considered employees. 

Washington Youth Soccer will report to L&I a list of all member associations and clubs so that L&I can cross reference and effectively not bill the Association and/or club but rather only bill Washington Youth Soccer.
