The new Seattle Sounders FC and Washington Youth Soccer have teamed up once again, this time to strengthen the development process for players participating in the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Working together, this partnership will provide the perfect opportunity for the state to enhance the skill level of its most elite players, while evaluating every aspect of the ODP program including its infrastructure, processes, and the role it plays in the ever-changing soccer landscape.

Training will begin in September at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, the new training center for the Seattle Sounders FC.  Upon making the state teams in December, these players will be invited to participate in several events in 2009, including the Regional ODP Championships, the Nike Friendship Cup in Oregon, the Colorado Showcase in May, and other friendly games throughout the year.

Returning Players:  A returning player is a player selected to the state pool from May/June 2008.  If you are interested in being evaluated for the 2009 ODP player pool, you must register and plan on attending the first two training sessions in your age group. If you are a returning 2008 ODP State Pool player the initial pool fee was included in your 2008 ODP fees. When registering online, select the returning player status and select the pay by check option. Washington Youth Soccer Staff will waive the $35.00; please do not send a check. As a reminder—all 2008 fees must be paid in full as of August 31, 2008. Any player that has not paid their pool fee for the current year will not be allowed to train until payment is made.

New Players  (Open Tryout & Recommended Players):  Players wishing to be evaluated and to compete for potential selection to the state player pool, that will represent Washington Youth Soccer in 2009 need to register for a tryout. These players will train and be evaluated against those players currently in the state pools. From these sessions, individuals will be assessed; successful candidates will be invited to return the next month to compete for placement in the pool. Players will have the opportunity to attend only one initial evaluation. Unfortunately, due to the large number of players interested in tryouts at this time, we cannot offer multiple tryouts. At the conclusion of the tryout process in December our final player pools will be announced.
